I've had a great first few days! I am worn out already, but loving it still! The kids really responded well to this team building activity and 'got' why I had them do it! Looking forward to what lies ahead!
That's all for now!

1st Day
Today was the first day with students. It went well, but it went by so fast I feel like I need a nap now that it's over! It is going to be interesting getting used to our hybrid schedule and all of the new staff/students, but I am looking forward to it!
Now off to spend some time with my biological munchkins before I have to go do it all over again tomorrow!

Getting Ready
I survived Common Core training, and have my classroom ready to go (finally!). I will post some pictures at a later date.
We are doing a hybrid schedule of resource/inclusion this year and have several new additions to our staff, so the beginning of the year is likely to be hectic. Please continue to pray for me that I can do my job well and never forget that the kids are most important regardless of all the 'crap' the state comes up with and calls important...
Thanks!
More to come...

Getting Ready for the Upcoming School Year
No, I did not, in fact fall off the face of the earth! The first full year of teaching is probably not the ideal time to start blogging...
Anyhoo... I am SO looking forward to the new school year and have been having fun implementing some of the wonderful ideas I've garnered from Pinterest into my classroom! (Including this 'did you know? ' board to encourage exploration of nonfiction text to find a worthy fact to grace mrs. p's 'did you know?' board!)
I am in the throes of an intense 3 day common core training right now, so to be quite honest, I'm looking forward to that being over so I can get back to work in my room!
So, hopefully, I will be a better blogger this year...

Christmas Break!!!
On a happier note, my first semester is now over and I have a few days off to relax and spend some quality time with my family! Semester exams are over with and grades have been entered...I will, of course, have to do some lesson planning while I'm off, but...not tonight! ;)
I hope next semester goes by smoothly as well. I feel much more comfortable in my position now, but am still figuring things out and coming up with different ways to do things if I remain in the same position next school year.
If you're the praying type, please continue to pray for me as well as the multitudes of others who work in our nations schools. It's not as easy as 'Joe Public' thinks it is!
Merry Christmas!

Tragedy
I am wary this morning (the first day back to school after the terrible tragedy in CT) to send my kids (and myself) back to school. What is this world coming to when a parent can't rely on the fact that their child will return safely to their arms at the end of the school day? I'm not here to point fingers or lay blame, but somethings gotta give! Every educator, administrator, and assistant I know would, without hesitation, do whatever it took to protect their students! And that fact makes me proud to be an educator! But in this day and age, in this country, the schools should not be a war zone!! I am not fully educated on the whys and hows of what happened, but to be perfectly honest, I don't even care! I just don't want to dread going to work or dropping my own children off at school for fear of what may happen... Prayers go out to every parent, child, and school employee this morning.

A good day at school
This is why I love my job! My kids are shown demonstrating what we learned this week in Geometry! :)
Thanks for continuing to support me while I do what I love through the ups and downs!!
